Hi - My name is Jonathan Sands, and I am the lead surveyor for Cat-Check Marine Surveys. 

    My background is in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and I attended the University of New Orleans and studied in small craft and yacht design while persuing my degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.  While still in school, I got the job of my dreams, working for Trinity Yachts as an engineer.  After several years with Trinity I realized that engineering and yacht design at a corporate level was more about managing other people and less about the boats.

    In 2007 I moved back home to Miami, FL from Louisiana and started my career in Marine surveying.  Like most surveyors, I started out in boats I knew quote well, small boats under 30 feet and ironically large super yachts similar to those built by Trinity. In roughly 2009, I was introduced to my first catamaran and the rest is as they say history.  From 2009 on, my focus has been on catamarans and they occupy the vast majority of work. While, I still work for and operate a separate company, Atlantic Marine Group, I started cat-check in 2013 to better illustrate my focus on catamarans.
